Leon H. Sullivan Foundation Honors Former Secretary of State Colin Powell

Executives of the Nigerian Business Forum met with H.E President Olusegun Obasanjo and other dignitaries at the The Leon H. Sullivan Foundation dinner. The event was a celebratory dinner in honor of former U.S. Secretary of State Colin L. Powell on Saturday, May 7, 2005 in Washington, DC at the Omni Shoreham Hotel

The dinner witnessed over 400 guests who were all invited to celebrate the former secretary of state's lifetime of achievements. A cross-section of guests included members of Department of State officials, ambassadors, members of the diplomatic corps, private sector executives, members of the public, the media, and executives of non-profit organizations.

Speakers at the event included Ambassador Andrew Young, Chairman of the Leon H. Foundation, Hope Sullivan, President of the Leon H. Foundation, Honorable Alexis Herman, former U.S Secretary of Labor, and other distinguished people.

President Obasanjo spoke about the great work Colin Powell was part of in Africa as a government official, and charged him to strive to do more even in retirement.

The Sullivan Foundation is named after the legendary world leader, statesman and Philadelphia Minister Reverend Leon H. Sullivan. The Foundation was established in 2001 to promote the principles of self-help, thereby empowering underprivileged people and advocating social responsibility worldwide.
